Today we crossed the border line from Switzerland to Italy (or South Tyrolean ;-)) after running up the impressive Uina valley with tunnels and galleries at the end. As this stage was very RUNNABLE and I have still a lack of energy in my machines (=legs) it was again horrible hard for me. But hey, we got 3rd again but with a really big gap behind Dimitris and Cameron. These guys ran like hell today and smashed the 38km with 1.600m+ in 3:11hours – impressive!
Driving along the lake “Reschen” to our hotel we passed a church tower standing out of the water. In 1950 the built a damn and flooded two little villages (Graun and Reschen) destroying 163 houses – just to produce electric power for the cities down in the valley. Now the tower is seen as a sign how irresponsibly humans deal with nature and to remember once a piece of earth is destroyed it is hard to revive. But now it’s enough philisophic words 😉
